Electrolysis and IPL

Electrolysis and IPL

This is a method of permanent hair removal. A very fine needle is inserted into the hair follicle (alongside the hair). A diathermy current (heat) is discharged which cauterizes the root of the hair. Each hair has its own blood supply which feeds and nourishes it,gradually that blood supply is cut off and the root shrinks. With each treatment the hair gets weaker and finer and eventually it will stop growing. Electrolysis is a slow, slightly painful process (feels like hot pin pricks) that requires regular treatment to achieve its permanent results.

Most facial hair in ladies is hormonally influenced and ideally should not be waxed, plucked or threaded as this encourages growth making it worse. A consultation is required before treatment can begin.

INTENSE PULSED LIGHT is also a method of permanent hair reduction. An intense pulsed light is introduced to the hair via a hand piece. The light is attracted to the pigment in your hair and travels via the colour to the base of the follicle where it becomes heat. The heat destroys the germanative part of the hair and cauterises the blood supply feeding the root. The hair needs to be dark for the treatment to be effective. Actively growing hairs are targeted and destroyed at each session, giving a permanent reduction. Unfortunately not all hairs grow at the same time and take 4-6 weeks to complete a cycle of growth, therefore, a course of spaced treatments are required to achieve result. An average number of treatments is between 6-10. Whole areas are treated in a session so prices vary according to the area being treated.
